Posted On at at 8:37 AM by Discover with DagwoodThe benefits of having a dog are overwhelming and undeniable. The biggest benefit? Having a dog puts life in perspective in a deeply satisfying way. It's tough to stay mad about a coffee stain on your pants with your pup wagging his tail off in anticipation of a round of tug.

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?
Posted On Thursday, March 13, 2008 at at 3:42 PM by Discover with Dagwood1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?
2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.
3. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!
4. Rottweiler: Make me.
5. Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.
6. Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!
7. German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.
8. Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture. (how true)!
9. Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb!
10. Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.
11. Chihuahua: Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or 'We don't need no stinking light bulb.'
12. Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?
13. Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...
14. Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

The Dog, the Cat and the Rat
Posted On Monday, March 10, 2008 at at 10:19 AM by Discover with DagwoodSweeeeet story!
This is a video of a homeless guy in Santa Barbara and his pets. You can see these guys every week working State St. for donations. The man who owns them rigged a harness up for his cat so she wouldn't have to walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture the rat came along and as no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat and often, on the cat ! The dog, will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire his altruistic, we-are-one personality, except for a few chin scratches.
The Mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a Christmas card.

What Do You feed Your Dog?
Posted On Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at at 9:10 AM by Discover with Dagwood
I eat Avoderm! (besides my special treats like carrots, celery, bell peppers, milk bones etc.). I started eating Avoderm when I was just a pup. It was recommended by a guy in a pet store in Oakdale CA. who was the owner of a border collie with bad skin. I tried many other brands of food but none of them agreed with me in one way or another. So I came back to Avoderm (my owners have it shipped directly to my house because they have not found a store in Texas that sells the kind I like (lamb and rice formula).
Sincerely,
Dag

Yippee!
Posted On Saturday, March 1, 2008 at at 12:31 PM by Discover with DagwoodIt's Saturday!! One of the reasons I like Saturdays so much is that my owners are home. It's a drag all week when they are at work. Sometimes I get real scared with the thunder storms and bite the walls. THAT does not make them happy :(. But they always console me and say that they are sorry that I am scared. During a thunderstorm when they are at home I get to get up on the couch and walk all over mama.......she's very understanding.
Looks like plans for today will be boating. The weather is beautiful, workouts are complete, breakfast finished, potty break complete. Yup! I'm ready for the day! Hope yours is a good one!
